DJ Envy Brings Horsepower, Star Power to Union Campus
Music thumping. Engines revving. Kids laughing. Sun shining – almost as bright as the bling around DJ Envy’s neck. Welcome to the first annual “Drive Your Dreams” Car show presented by Lincoln Tech and Power 105.1. Walking through the packed parking lot at Lincoln Tech’s Union campus, people were stopping by to see Lincoln Tech staff and students demonstrating how liquid nitrogen turns flower petals into ice chips. Groups of guys were gathered around comparing rims. There were lines at the food trucks to get BBQ, empanadas and hot dogs. Definitely ice cream or cotton candy for dessert! Kids were pulling their parents towards pumpkin painting and the giant inflatable slide. And of course, there were rows and rows of cars to explore and admire. A fun time was had by all on October 22, as more than 500 people visited the campus throughout the afternoon.
Old Cars. New Cars. Red Cars. Blue Cars.

Private owners competed for prizes as well. Vintage cars from the 1960’s and 70’s garnered a lot of attention - including a Buick Electra 225, Ford Mustang, Buick Wildcat, Cadillac Seville, Corvette Sting Ray, Chevy Impala SS and more.
The Lincoln Tech racing cars were also on display. Honor Roll students from the Automotive Training program at the school have rebuilt and suped up a dragster while working side-by-side with ASE-certified instructors, and have been
A popular spot was the step and repeat Selfie Station, where pictures were being snapped and shared all afternoon long. Others strolled by vendor booths showcasing clothing lines, car wraps, detailing services, die-cast toy cars and more. Lincoln Tech students manned the Drive Your Dreams t-shirt booth - yours for a $5 donation. Most people put them on right there. The show wound up raising more than $1,700 for the campus’ student fund to help those in need. Everyone involved is looking forward to doing it again next year!
